Fellowship and Internship Positions now available- Field Organizing, Social Media, Finance and more
The Emanuel Pleitez for Los Angeles Mayor campaign is looking for new Field Organizers to help us make history.
The City of Los Angeles will be electing a new mayor in March 2013, and Emanuel is the best candidate for this job. “The city of Los Angeles needs a mayor who knows how to talk to its different communities and feel what they feel,” says Emanuel, who grew up in low-income neighborhoods of East Los Angeles.
Son of Mexican and Salvadoran immigrants, Emanuel is a young and innovative LA native who understands the issues many Angelenos face every day. He attended public schools while involved with community service, and believes in hard work and inspiration as the building blocks of success. Emanuel’s political work includes appointment by the Obama-Biden Administration to work for the Department of Treasury, as well as personal assistant to current Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. His experiences with McKinsey & Co., Goldman Sachs, and Spokeo make him the candidate with the best understanding of today’s technology-driven economy. Beyond his work, Emanuel is heavily involved with non-profit organizations—he chairs both the Hispanic Heritage Foundation and Salvadoran American Leadership and Education Fund—and founded several initiatives for Latinos and other underrepresented persons. No matter what he does, he applies the principles he learned in South and East LA—taking responbility, inspiring others, and organizing his community for success.
This Fellowship is based on Emanuel’s desire to see change in the communities of Los Angeles. We are running a very personalized grassroots effort to listen to residents and organize communities for action. A field campaign in this manner has never been done before in the City of Angels, and is something that our fellows are proud to be a part of. The positions will be rigorous and demanding, while providing an unparalleled opportunity for personal and professional growth as well as leadership skill building. In addition to gaining practical political and community organizing experience, Fellows will receive training according to their interests and career goals, unique networking opportunities, graduate school application assistance, and personalized mentorship.
Emanuel is committed to building a team of talented, passionate, and self-motivated individuals that can re-energize, engage, and mobilize LA’s diverse communities. Whether you are a student planning to apply to MBA, JD, or other graduate school; a young professional looking for change; or a lifelong community activist—this Fellowship is for you.
So if you are motivated, a self-starter and a natural team player and leader, the Emanuel Pleitez for Los Angeles Mayor campaign is for you.
